Cost of cutting carbon emissions rises with farmer exemptions: PBO

(Source: iPolitics) The economic cost of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will be higher if farmers don’t have to cut their emissions, the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) said Thursday. The federal climate change plan — and the plans of the four largest provinces — exempt the agriculture sector from reducing emissions as aggressively as other industries, said Pierre Bagnoli, a PBO analyst who appeared at the Senate’s agriculture and forestry committee.
