More trees planted in Woodland by local volunteers

(Source: The Daily Democrat) On Saturday, 100 shade trees went into the ground starting at Beamer Park and elsewhere as part of a three-year campaign by the Woodland Tree Foundation and city of Woodland to plant 1,200 trees. David Wilkinson, president of the Tree Foundation, said the continuing effort is designed to curb the community’s carbon footprint. He noted that over the next 40 years, the trees planted on Saturday will capture about 6,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, reducing the level of “greenhouse gases” from the atmosphere that contribute to global warming.
